This Moment's Obsession - Benefit's Hoola and Hervana

I am really bad for not highlighting and cotouring when I have a full face of makeup on. My cheeks are just naturally pretty bright red. And I have very full, chubby cheeks, and I haven't found a way to contour them where it doesn't look like a streak down my face.

Ages ago, when I first decided to attempt the contour life, I bought Benefit Hoola. And then, for good measure (or impulse) I bought Benefit Hervana at the recommendation of the girl at Sephora.

Hervana was recommended to me because you can swirl it together and have it be darker or have it be softer. I usually end up with a softer blush which is how I prefer it.

I like Hoola as well. I think the color is a little dark for my skin tone. But it blends nicely.

They come in the cardboard boxes with the magnetic close. They came with little brushes that my cats have had a blast playing with.

This Moment's Obsession - Disney Storylook Jasmine Collection

This is not anything new. I may have posted about this ages ago when it first came out, but I've recently re-discovered it. And I've become re-obsessed.

Ages ago, Disney released three Storylook colletctions. Cinderella was pretty but I didn't buy it. And then I got them email about the Jasmine collection and I freaked out. I may have squealed and ran to the bathroom at work to order it immediately. (Actually, that's exactly what happened.) And they finished up the trilogy with Ariel. (Stay tuned for that.)

I believe each collection had a compact mirror, a lip gloss set, a scent and the eyeshadow palette. Clearly, I bought the eyeshadows, and I also got the perfume.

The packaging is adorable. The box is about the size of a book, as are Cinderella and Ariel. So you can have a little book collection on your desk. The box features a silhouette of Jasmine being her sassy self. The palette features the tagline "You're only in trouble if you get caught". The box that holds the eyeshadows is a purple satin and has a little tassel to pull it out of the sleeve. And the eyeshadows lift out of the box. So when you have finished the shadows, you can use it as a jewellery box.

Unlike the other two palettes, which were all eyeshadows, Jasmine came with 15 eyeshadows, a blush and a bronzer. I am as pale as they come, so both of these were far too dark for me. So I have used them as eyeshadows.

The eyeshadows themselves are gorgeous. The color payoff is phenomenal. There are a lot of neutrals to choose from and mix with a little pop of color.

I also bought the perfume. The design matches the palette, except this one is more gold. And the tagline is "make your own magic". It smells amazing. But my only dislike is that it is an oil and doesn't come out of the rollerball very well.

I've been told that there is going to be a Minnie Mouse collection coming out this spring. And with all the live-action remakes, I am hoping these make a comeback. I would really love more of these.

This Moment's Outfit

Today is my work Christmas party. It is a semi-formal event with an open bar. I've gone for a lot of looks over the years. Other than the first year, my hair has been styled in a pony tail, due to the amount of dancing that takes place.

This year, a friend came over and we tried on every dress we owned and drank wine and danced to a girl power playlist on Spotify. You know, a typical Friday night with your girlfriends.

She had this purple dress and made me try it on. And I kind of fell in love with it. It brought a little bit of attention to my normally flat chest. It has a zipper close on the front (a detail I love.) It was simple and my one of my favourite colors. It makes me look small in the right places and sits on my hips perfectly. AND it has POCKETS! (I really am my father's daughter. All about the pockets!)

Next I had the real hard decision to make. The shoes. What shoes?!

Well the dress is simple. I have about half a dozen pairs of the exact same shoes, but in different colours. I didn't like how any of them looked with this dress. My go-to black heels didn't really go with this dress. And then I found them.

I am a member of Just Fab. I forgot to skip it one month and had a credit available. So I thought I might was well use it. I wanted an everyday kind of wedge for summer. I default to the high stiletto heel, that I can't walk in. Wedges, however, are a little more secure when paired with my lack of grace.

When I couldn't decide, my friend cast the deciding vote, and I got these babies. They are nude and subtly patterned with snake skin. The color doesn't take away from the dress, and the pattern adds just a little bit more to the dress. And they are funky, which I have to have a bit of when I am in a room full of people old enough to be my parents. I need a little bit of my own style.

(Side note: These shoes go perfectly with the dress I posted about in my last This Moment's Outfit.)

I have not decided my my make up. I am thinking I will use the Urban Decay Naked Smoky palette. Something simple, but dark. With a nude lip. My hair will probably be down and end up in a ponytail.

This Moment's Outfit

My sister bought this dress in a bunch of different colors when she was pregnant. And she now handed them down to me. I have been getting a lot of use out of them. I love the cut on the back. I love shirts and dresses with cut outs on the back.

The colored ones are I have been pairing with a pair of leggings and a jacket. It was perfect for the cooler summer nights.

My favourite outfit lately has been the black dress with this amazing green leather jacket I found when Teagan dragged me into a thrift shop. It reminds me of a pirate jacket. All the buttons are mismatched and it makes me love it more. I finish the look off with a coral infinity scarf I got from Disney World. Then I finish off the look with my coral flats.

This Moment's Obsession - All The Punkin Things!

White Girl Season is officially upon us. And that means all the punkin things have arrived! (Thank you Melissa Trippy for hooking me on that pronunciation.) PSLs are back at Starbucks and I am a happy girl! Naturally, I gravitate towards all the punkin scented things as well. And here are some of my favourites.

All of these are from Bath and Body Works. (I went a little crazy. Oops.) I got 2 candles and a lotion. The Cinnamon candle smells very cinnamonny where as the other two are on the sweeter side. And they make me and my apartment smell amazing!

Fall is my favourite time of year and I fully intend to enjoy all the sights and smells for as long as I can!

This Moment's Obsession - OPI Polishes

Fall is around the corner and I am breaking out the fall colors. I know some people save purple lipstick for fall, but that's my go to color year round. Nail polish, on the other hand, I choose more based on the season. So here are some of my current favourites.

First I've been loving Viking In A Vinter Vonderland.

This is from the 2014 Nordic collection. It is a dark cream purple. It is really dark and come come across as black, depending on the lighting. But it is still gorgeous.

Next is How Great Is Your Dane?

This is also from the 2014 Nordic collection. It is a dark chocolate brown cream. I'm usually not a fan of brown polishes, but this is so pretty.

And then I have Got The Blues for Red.

This one isn't from a collection. Red nail polish is my favourite. But I didn't have a deeper shade. And it is a blue based red cream, so it's everything I was looking for.

Finally, I have Dark Side of the Mood.

This is from the 2015 50 Shades collection. It is a charcoal cream. It's just gorgeous. There is something simple and classic about grey nails, and this goes perfectly with anything as an accent color.

And those are my favourite nail polishes for fall. And probably winter. I will get a much wear out of these as I can.
